How to Take Perfect Images for 360 Degree Rotation Viewers
If you are putting together images for a 360 Flash or Javascript viewer then there is a knack to getting the right type of images to be used in the viewer. If you are going to design and create the perfect rotation effect it will be essential that you make sure that you have kept the exact settings between all of the different photos. Each image must be set up and aligned identically. Here are a number of hints as to how to achieve this:
Firstly, if you are going to use any camera other than a basic point and shoot digital camera then put the camera in Aperture Priority Mode and then select a narrow aperture setting such as f16. This f16 setting will then give the images that you take a good depth of field, and importantly it will also ensure that you get consistency across all of the images that you take.
Next mount your digital camera on a tripod in order to prevent any shake or movement between your photos and then mark out the positioning of your object so that it is central on a Lazy Susan or potter’s wheel.
Make sure you retain the exact same position of your lights throughout all of your images – don’t move them at all halfway through the photo-shoot.
Lastly, take some time to measure equal divisions of degrees all around your rotating platform in order that you are able to accurately rotate between each of your images.
